Barber working a precise skin fade with clippers under warm low light

Est. Winchester, MMXIX

The Brass
Blade

Clean lines. Steamed towels. A quarter-hour of stillness.

Drop-ins welcome until noon. After that, chair two tends to be free.

The Craft

Thousands of fades later

Precision cannot be hurried. It has to be earned.

Tom, Eli and Raf carry more than twenty-five years between them on the floor. Each session opens with a brief chat about length and shape — because the cut you leave with should match the one you described. Combs, guards and blades are sterilised after every head in the chair.

The Ritual

Steam, steel & lather

The straight-razor shave worked in 1925. It still works today.

A pair of heated towels, rich lather applied with a soft brush, a razor honed at opening time, then a cooling towel and post-shave balm. Thirty pounds and you walk out feeling like a new man.

  • Shop-made pomades and beard balms from £10 at the till
  • Pre-shave oil mixed locally in small runs
  • Vouchers for the partner who never treats himself

Questions from the mirror

The enquiries we hear every week — answered here so your time in the chair stays peaceful.

Should I book ahead or just turn up?

Walk-ins are fine before midday, Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday mornings (10am to 1pm) are drop-in only. After lunch, ring 01234 567 890 to hold a slot. Either way, one of the three chairs is usually open.

How much time does a skin fade need?

We block fifty minutes per fade — blending takes attention, not speed. Your visit includes a quick style consultation, the cut itself, a warm towel and a razor-clean neckline. Skin fades are £24.

Do you welcome children and older clients?

Under-twelve cuts are £16 on Monday to Wednesday. Senior scissor trims are £17 before 11am. The Father & Son package (£38) covers two cuts in one booking, with the youngster getting the full cape-and-chat treatment.

What is included in the £30 hot towel shave?

The complete experience: two steamed towels, brush-applied lather, a freshly stropped open razor, a cold towel to tighten the skin, and balm afterwards. Unchanged in spirit for a century.

Can I buy gift vouchers, and which payments do you take?

Vouchers are available at the counter — ideal for birthdays. We accept card and contactless. Pomades and oils start at £10. Ask about our Wednesday student discount when you call.

“Hands down the sharpest fade in Winchester. Eli listens, takes his time, and the neckline is always immaculate. I have not been anywhere else in two years.”

James H. · St Cross

★★★★★

“Brought my son for the Father & Son deal. They sat him down properly, asked what he wanted, and he came home buzzing. Best £38 I have spent in ages.”

Marcus T. · Kings Worthy

★★★★★

“Had the hot towel shave the morning of my wedding. Twenty minutes of absolute calm before the chaos. Every penny of the thirty quid well spent.”
